Sherida Skinner 1954-2002

Sherida Skinner, 47, a resident of Isner Creek, Elkins, passed away Monday, March 11, 2002, at 6:50 p.m. in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, where she had been a patient since Nov. 7, 2001. She had been in her usual health until entering the hospital, when her condition became critical.

She was born March 26, 1954, in Asheville, N.C., a daughter of the late James Herbert and Annie Mae Rogers Garrett.

On Jan. 2, 1990, in Asheville, N.C., she was united in marriage to Charles E. Skinner Jr., who survives in Elkins.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Michael Scott Gray of Des Moines, Iowa, and Spc. Brian Gray, who is stationed with the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell Kentucky; one sister, JoAnn Welborne and one brother, Anthony “Tony” Garrett, both of Tennessee; her father and mother-in-law, Charles E. and Edna June Chewning Skinner; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a technician operator for Quest Communications in Iowa until becoming disabled and returning to Elkins to reside. She attended the Chosen Vessels Ministries.

Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home after 6:30 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel Saturday at noon with the Rev. Paula Paugh, pastor of the Chosen Vessel Ministries officiating. Interment will follow in Lower Rowan Cemetery at Mabie.
