Shiela “Diane” Barrick, 37, a resident of the Triplett Road, Kerens, passed away at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at her residence.

She was born July 4, 1965, at Frankfort, Germany, a daughter of Naomi P. Bennett Barrick of Kerens and the late Phillip R. Barrick Sr.

Surviving are one daughter, Paige M. Barrick of Kerens; two brothers, Phillip R. Barrick Jr. of Kerens and Ralph J. Barrick of Pearland, Texas; one sister, Kathy Kelley of Mill Creek; and her paternal grandmother, Viola Griffith of Elkins.

Also surviving are her special aunts and uncles, Norma and Fred Hornick of Beverly, and Bernie and Pat Bennett of Elkins; and nieces and nephews, Jeff Manolidis and wife, Laura, of Elkins, Kirstie and Shelby Barrick of Texas, Chasity and Alyson Kelley of Mill Creek, and Noel Church Barrick of Elkins; and many special friends.

Preceding her in death was her maternal grandfather, Ralph “Booge” Bennett; her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Florence Barrick; and a half sister, Susie Barrick.

She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1983. She had worked as a waitress at Elkins Shoney’s and Elkins Pizza Hut prior to her illness. She was a member of the Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Elkins and was a Protestant by faith

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bob Ferrar officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice, 1410 Crim Ave., Belington, W.Va. 26250 in memory of Diane. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Shiela “Diane” Barrick.
