Susie Gay Mace Carpenter, 91, of Weston, Formerly of Centralia, Died June 10, 2001 at Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon, after a long illness.
She was born February 12, 1910 in Braxton County, A daughter of the late George S and Gertrude I Butcher Payne
She was twice married. Her First Husband, Plosa Mace Sr, Died in 1963.
Her second Husband, Sprague Carpenter, whom she married in 1974, died in 1979
Surviving are two sons, George L Mace and Phosa D Mace, both of Sutton; two daughters, Jewell Hull and Joyce Hall, Both of Weston;one sister, Icie Snyder of Gassaway, 27 grandchildren 51 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren

She was also preceded in death by three sons, Patrick, Robert and Clarence Mace, three daughters, Gloria McCourt, Tina Web Osborne, and Evelyn Thayer, nine sisters, and three grandchildren.

Mrs Carpenter was a chef, a Methodist, and a member of Centralia United Methodist Church, where she was an adult Sunday School teacher.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Weston Moose Lodge.

A funeral service will be held today, Wednesday, June 13 at 11 am, at Centralia United Methodist Church, with Rev. Brian Tannous and Rev.Bill Griffin officiating.

Burial will follow in the Centralia Cemetery.

Greene-Robertson Funeral Home of Sutton is in charge of funeral arrangements.
