Sylvia Belle Ervin 1930-2002 Obituary

Sylvia Belle Ervin, 72, went home to be with the Lord at 9:46 p.m. Saturday, June, 1, 2002, from her home on 403 Bradshaw St. in Belington, following a six- month illness.

She was born Jan. 7, 1930, at Meadowville, a daughter of the late A.J. and Maude Evelyn Phillips Ferguson.

On Aug. 6, 1947, at Oakland, Md., she was united in marriage to Shirley Leon Ervin, who survives at their home in Belington.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Roger L. Ervin, Union Road Philippi, and George M. Ervin, Johnson Avenue, Belington; two daughters, Brenda J. Baisi, Anglin Addition, Philippi, and Judy P. Ritter, Lower Cheat, Elkins; one brother, Daniel Wilson, Ferguson Road, Philippi; nine grandchildren, Roger L. Ervin, Richard Ervin, Michael A. Ervin, Bryan S. Ervin, Greg Baisi, Tony Baisi, Debbie Baisi, Jordan Crain and Ashley Crain; four great-grandchildren, Vincent Baisi, Madison Baisi, Colby Wolfe Ervin and Dakota Lynn Taylor.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Andrews; five brothers, Virgil, Elwood, Wayne, George and Omar Ferguson; and one great-grandchild, Tyler Adam Ervin.

Mrs. Ervin attended the schools of Barbour County. she was a past member of the Barbour County Democratic Executive Committee. She was an acclaimed winner for original design in Crochet World, was an accomplished rug weaver, crocheter and seamstress.

She was a homemaker and retired from Leo P. Ware and Son in Belington. She was an American Baptist.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home, 210 Brandenburg St. in Belington from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when services will be conducted from the funeral home parlor, with the Rev. Bryan Lamm officiating. Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery in Belington. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Mountain Hospice, Crim Avenue in Belington.
