Theodora Curtis Ferrell Plumley of Buckhannon, WV passed from this life at the age of 66 on April 8, 2012 at Fairmont General Hospital after battling a series of illnesses. Theda dedicated her life to helping others. She was heavily involved in educational organizations, community centers and in her church, the First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon. Theda was a 1963 graduate of Buckhannon-upshur High School and graduated from Salem College. She spent nearly thirty years heading up Adopt-a-highway as district coordinator of DNR/dEP of the state of WV. The Department of Natural Resources and Theda enjoyed art, collecting antiques and volunteering in the community. She was born June 5, 1945 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Carlos and Ellouise Hill Ferrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Plumley and one brother, Christopher Lake Ferrell. She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Grubb and husband Clifford of Greenville, SC; one son, Kirk C. Guth of Pennsboro, WV; three granddaughters, Alicha and Johanna Grubb, both of Greenville and Ava Lynn Guth to be born in June; two grandsons, Christopher and Joseph Grubb of Greenville; one sister, Joan McComb of Dewitt, MI and one brother, Timothy Obed Ferrell of Buckhannon. She was loved and will be missed. Friends will be received from 3-5 PM, Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 5 PM with the Rev. Dr. Joseph M. Shreve officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the WV State Wildlife Center, P. O. Box 38, French Creek, WV 26218. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
