Thirl Edward Caynor 1925-2002 Obituary

Thirl Edward Caynor, 76, of Route 2, Box 98, Buckhannon, died Monday, June 17, 2002, at his home in Buckhannon.

He was born Aug. 14, 1925, at Lantz, a son of the late Jeannette Dawson and Willa Jean Rucker Caynor.

On May 21, 1949, he married Willa Jean Rucker Caynor, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert D. (Chickey) Cable and Holly JoAnn Caynor, all of Buckhannon; one son, Darius Caynor, Norton; two brothers, Denver Caynor and David Caynor, both of Buckhannon; two sisters, Elda Wilt, Morgantown, and June Riggleman, Massilon, Ohio; three grandsons, Kurt Wagoner and Scott Wagoner, both of Buckhannon, and Steven Caynor, Norton; two granddaughters, Mindi Wagoner, Charlotte, N.C., and Melanie Caynor, Elkins; two great-grandsons, Dakota Wagoner, Buckhannon, and Steven Caynor II, Elkins; and one great-granddaughter, Makenzie Wagoner, Buckhannon.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Erma Lee Caynor.

He was a store manager for Osburns Store and retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with Co. G 3rd Infantry Regiment France, Germany.

He was a life member of Buckhannon VFW Post 3663 and a member of the West Virginia Draft Horse and Mule Association. He attended Sand Run Baptist Church.

Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Butcher and the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Interment will follow in Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
