OBITUARY: THOMAS DANIEL FARRIS Thomas Daniel Farris, 72, of Bear Mountain Road, Brownton, died Friday evening, September 21, at his home following an unexpected illness. He was born April 27, 1940, at Brownton, a son of the late Raymond Edward and Dora (Kelley) Farris. On December 21, 1964, he married the former Myrtle Ellen Hill, who survives at Brownton. Also surviving are two sons, Scott Farris, Eddie Farris and wife, Debbie, all of Brownton; two daughters, Michelle Williams and husband, Jerry, Brownton, Ellen Knight and husband, William, Philippi; six grandchildren, Christopher, Eddie and Kierston Farris, Lora Ann, and Thomas Knight and Adreine Williams. He was the last member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by six sisters, Nellie Sampson, Violet Farris, Mary May Norris, Marie Nestor, Betty Louise and Leona McCord; and by six brothers, Raymond Farris, Homer Farris, Richard Farris, Jerrel William Farris, James Roy Farris and David Farris. Mr. Farris was a graduate of Philippi High School and was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was a retired coal miner and roofer. He was a former employee of the Sago Mine and Fowler’s Roofing. Mr. Farris was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and was Protestant by faith. He was an avid vegetable gardener. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 South Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Ross Higginbotham and the Rev. Ruth Higginbotham will officiate and interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Flemington. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday and from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Wednesday. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
