Thurman M. Shorty Woofter 1944-2002 Obituary

Thurman M. “Shorty” Woofter, 58, of 90 1/2 Camden Ave., Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon.

Mr. Woofter was born Jan. 2, 1944, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Florist Clay and Margie C. Adams Woofter.

Surviving are one brother, Herman Woofter, Niles, Ohio; four sisters, Naomi “Peg” DeBarr, Buckhannon, Norma DeBarr, Wheeling, Reta Jackson, Buckhannon, and Pansy Johnson, Nashville, Ind.; one special niece, Carol Waybright, Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Woofter and Willie Woofter; and one sister, Nellie Hornbeck.

Mr. Woofter was a city worker for the city of Buckhannon. He was a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge 598 and Buckhannon Eagles Club 4357.

Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. S.L. Green officiating. Interment will follow in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
