I finished the assembly of the uBitx v6 and its time to test the radio, so I turned it on, and saw the new touch screen menu, it works!

These is not a huge amount of information available for the uBitx v6, so I started learning the menu system

The menu control system uses a combination of using the stylus to select settings, and using the VFO knob to adjust the the settings, and pressing the VFO knob to accept the settings – although some settings have the option of directly entering settings on an on-screen keypad

It did not take me long to determine the menu system was a little unfinished, and needed a little de-bugging and bug fixing

I occasionally ended up with a locked screen, the radio was on and working, but I had no way to control it, the menu system was locked up!

The uBitx v6 has good audio and can tune in the signals your antenna receives, so its worth taking the time to find the bugs and learn to avoid them

I think the uBitx v6 was attempt by the manufacture to release an alternative to the most popular uBitx v5 upgrade – a touch screen – the uBitx v6 also moved most of the controls to on board mounting, while this makes for a quick build, it severely limits the ability to experiment with different controls and upgrades

The uBitx v6 is a new release, and it has a few issues, the support structure for the uBitx is crowd sourced, with the manufacture providing zero support

There is a working group that is producing documentation and bug fixes and I recommend everyone check with that group for the latest fixes and improvements

There are hundreds of website providing information on the uBitx line of QRP Transceivers – I recommend you search google for ubitx support
