uBitx v6 Kit Unbox Overview and First Impressions
I purchased the uBitx v6 Kit with a Case, and was a little surprised there were not more parts, but then I noticed all the controls but one are mounted on the RF board, making for a cleaner and quicker assembly, This was great, faster to the fun!
The Ubitx v6 comes with most of the controls mounted to the RF board, this makes assembly a lot faster, but does limit your options for using other controls, and other cases, but overall this is not a problem, I have the uBitx v5 to experiment with in any case
The biggest improvement between the uBitx v5 and v6 is the addition of a touch screen, it looks very small, but fits the look and feel of the radio, a bigger screen would be out of place in this radio
You can buy the uBitx v6 with or without a case, I purchased the case and I was very glad I did, It is a professional looking metal case that is custom fit for all the parts
The uBitx v6 Kit also comes with a extra wiring harness to allow attachment of external controls, just in case you want to install it in another case, or add custom options
The uBitx v6 Kit also comes with a cable to extend the Arduino Nano Mini USB port out to the back of the case, this allow easy custom programming of the Nano
In Summary, I am very impressed with the workmanship of the overall kit, nice case, board mounted controls, BIG VFO knob, and its a complete radio
Now to Assembly the Kit and start using it on the air!
