OBITUARY: BURNDETTA CROSTON Velma Burndetta Croston, 73, of Beaver Falls, Penn., died Tuesday, March 9, in the Heritage Valley Medical Center, Beaver Falls. She was born June 13, 1936, at Moatsville, a daughter of the late William Archie and Melvina Mae (Mayle) Poe. On January 19, 1955, she was married to Charles Edward Croston, who preceded her in death on February 15, 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Joy Mayle and husband, Murl, Moatsville, Tracy Croston, Beaver Falls; two sons, Charles Croston Jr. And wife, Debbie, Milford, Penn., Lonnie Croston, Beaver Falls; two sisters, Minnie Mayle and Violet Croston, both of Moatsville; a foster brother, Dick Poe, Canton, Oh.; five grandchildren, Edward S. Mayle and wife, Cindy, Lacy Freeman and husband, Allan, David Croston and wife, Amy, Eric Croston and Josh Croston; seven great grandchildren; by two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, who were also her best friends. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Garnet Ruth Kennedy, Lillie Virginia Kennedy and Opal Jasmine Mayle; by three brothers, William Poe Jr., Elwood Poe and Ersel Poe. Mrs. Croston was a homemaker and a member of the Morado Faith Church. She was a cat lover, a bird watcher and loved all children. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 13, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Winfield Mayle will officiate and interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 9:00 P.M. on Friday and from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Saturday. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
