Velma D. Brown 1911-2003 Obituary
Velma D. Brown, 93, of ManorCare Health Services in Laureldale, Pa., died at 8:46 p.m. Sept. 18, 2003, in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where she had been a patient for five days.
She was born Aug. 11, 1911, in Westernport, M.D., a daughter of the late O.B. Durrett and Maudeline G. Scott Durrett.
She was the married to the late P. Dorran Brown, who preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 1995.
Surviving are three sons, Anthony E. Brown of Reading, Pa., Michael D. Brown of Los Angeles, and Christopher D. Brown of Portsmouth, N.H.
Also surviving are five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Mrs. Brown was an elementary school teacher for seven years for the Elkins School District in Elkins until she retired in 1940.
She was a graduate of Davis and Elkins College with a degree in English and was a member of the Nativity Lutheran Church in Reading.
Memorial services and interment will be private.
