Velma I. Ashcraft Estep received her Heavenly reward on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, as she passed from Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center.

Velma was born in Clarksburg on Wednesday, February 26, 1930, to Charles Wesley Ashcraft and Olive Cottrill Ashcraft. In 1948 in Oakland, MD, she was married to the love of her life, William Charles “Charlie” Estep, by Rev. Russell W. Harvey.

Left to cherish Velma’s memory are two children, M. Charleen Estep Stout and husband, Denny, of Elkins and Charles “Chuck” William Estep and wife, Kathi, of Weirton, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, all of whom she loved spending time with.

Preceding Velma in death was one brother, five sisters, and one grandson.
Velma attended the schools in Harrison County and was employed by the G.C. Murphy Company for several years.

She was Pentecostal by faith and a member of Elkins Family Worship Center.

She enjoyed fellowshipping with her church family.

She often made lunch for the church school, New Life Christian School which had been renamed Elkins Christian Academy.

The students loved her mac-n-cheese and pepperoni rolls.

Visitation will be held at Elkins Family Worship Center on Monday, December 27, 2021, from 10am until 11am, the funeral hour.

Rev. Jamie Estep and Rev. Rita Robinson will officiate and interment will follow at Stonewood Memorial Park in Stonewood.

Masks are to be worn for those attending the services.

The family requests memorial contributions be made in Velma’s memory to Elkins Christian Academy, 14 Brookside Drive, Elkins, WV 26241
