Veon Crawford, 86, formerly of Parkersburg, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, in Alliance Personal Home Care in Grafton.

He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Stephen Leslie and Hattie Poling Crawford.

He was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church. He owned and operated Crawford Appliance Services for years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics and of United Commercial Travelers of America.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, whom he married Dec. 31, 1943, Bonnidene Starkey Crawford; two sons and daughters-in-law, David Stephen and Kandes Crawford of Elkins, and Rev. Larry Veon and the Rev. Ann Crawford of Grafton; three grandchildren, Stephanie Haynes and husband, Voras, of Elkins, Larry Crawford of Lexington, Ky., and Rachel Wilkinson and husband, Brian, of Charleston; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Crawford Haynes and Aiden and Jacob Wilkinson; one brother, Harold William Crawford of Parkersburg; and two sisters, Juanita Chevront of Parkersburg, and Evadeen Sellers of Knnewick, Wash.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin, Ted and Woodrow Crawford; and two sisters, Merle Huber and Evalee Lee.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Parkview United Methodist Church with Pastor Warren Dove officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery North. Visitation will be today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg and Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
