Vernon Eugene “Bounty Hunter” Fitzgerald, 59, of East St. Charles, Grafton, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, in Grafton City Hospital in Grafton.

Mr. Fitzgerald was born Jan. 13, 1943, in Goshen, a son of Ruby Sines Davis, who survives in Buckhannon, and the late O’Dell Fitzgerald.

On Jun 8, 1980, he married Josephine Canter Fitzgerald, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Carol Sue Ratcliff, Las Vegas, Calif., Cheryl Arnold, Buckhannon, and Loretta Conley, Dover, Del.; one son, David Fitzgerald, Haverstraw, N.Y.; three stepdaughters, Mary McHenry, Summersville, Mabel Dovak, Beaverdam, Va., and Neva Workman, Grafton; a brother, Charles Ray Fitzgerald, Blanchester, Ohio; three sisters, Carol Jean Linger, Frenchton, Sharon Hollen, Buckhannon, and Janet Sue Branham, Richwood; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two infant sisters.

Mr. Fitzgerald was a care taker for Sports Services of Virginia. He served in the Army and was a Christian by faith.

Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Goshen Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post 3663 and Frank B. Bartlett Post 7, American Legion Post will conduct military honors at the graveside.
