Virgie Geneva Ware McLean, age 85 a resident of Belington departed this life Thursday morning November 11, 2021 at her residence. Death was following a period of declining health.

She was born June 25, 1936 at Junior, WV, a daughter of the late Lloyd Ware and Hazel Hinchman Digman.

She is survived by two sons; Roger McLean and wife Ellen of Ashburn, Virginia and Terry McLean and wife Charlene of Philippi, one daughter; Carmen Markley and husband Randall of Belington, four sisters; Linda Rowan of Buckhannon, Kate Posey of Walkersville, Vivian Ilene Thorn of Junior, and Martha Godwin of Coalton, brother; Donald Ware of Painesville, Ohio, half-sisters; Vada Conrad of Walkersville and Sharon Wolfe and husband Clarence of Buckhannon, half-brothers; David Ware of Mabie and Kenneth Ware of French Creek, step-sisters; Ruby Skidmore of Buckhannon and Wilma Wellman of Walkerman, step-brothers; Cliffton Vest of Belington and James Vest of French Creek. Additional survivors include four grandchildren; Traci Baker of Fairmont, T. W. McLean and fiancé Brandy Brown of Philippi, Jerry Straughan of Philippi, and Chelsea Pingley and husband Andrew of Norton, two great-grandchildren; Jaden Mambo of Philippi and Everly Pingley of Norton. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and a whole host of friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons; Donald McLean and Timothy McLean, daughter; Debbie Anita McLean, great-granddaughter; Keyaira Mambo, sisters; Tressie Tenney, Louise Gelhausen and Edith Mace, half-sister; Troney Paugh, brother; Arnold Ware, half-brothers; Floyd Ware and Stanley Wiseman, and former husband; Sterling McLean.

Virgie attended the schools of Barbour County was homemaker and Protestant by faith. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Laurel Mountain Post # 410 of Belington. She loved cooking for folks and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a kind and caring lady and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Tuesday November 16, 2021 from 6-9 p.m. and again on Wednesday November 17, 2021 from 8 am – 1pm the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Downing Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbour Memorial Cemetery near Belington.
