Virginia Daniels, 91, a former resident of Central Street and more recently a resident of Colonial Place, passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 4, 2003, at Colonial Place.

She was born June 8, 1912, at Gassaway, the daughter of the late George F. Purkey and Gettie Lee Vance Purkey.

She was married to Ivan R. Daniels, who preceded in death May 7, 1994.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Margaret Elizabeth Daniels of LaVale, Md.; three grandchildren, James Ivan Daniels of New Creek, Robert Charles Daniels of Cumberland, Md., and Cynthia Elizabeth Frost of LaVale, Md.; and five great-grandchildren, Kyler Daniels, James Daniels, Dylan Frost, Madison Stevens and Allen Stevens.

Preceding her in death were one son, Ivan L. Daniels; one sister, Margaret Walsh; and two brothers, Harry and Walter Purkey.

Virginia was multi-talented in handcrafts, quilting and knitting. She was an excellent homemaker and an avid cook and enjoyed sharing food with her friends and relatives.

She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Delphia Rebekah Lodge No. 62.

She was a member of the Degree of Honor and the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church of Elkins.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. At 7:30 p.m. today, members of the Randolph Chapter No. 74 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home chapel.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald L. Lockhart officiating.

Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests the contributions may be made to the West Virginia Affiliate of the American Heart Association, PO Box 11062, Charleston, W.Va. 25339, in memory of Virginia.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of arrangements for Virginia Daniels.
