Virginia Dare Callison Bowers, age 94 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Saturday morning, December 28, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Sunday, June 8, 1919 at the Glenmore Community, Elkins, WV a daughter of the late Filmore Earnest and Pearl Beatrice Goodman Callison. She was twice married. First, she was married to James Winfield Dudley. Second, on April 17, 1959, she was married to Louis “Pap” Bowers, who preceded her in death September 28, 1991. They had celebrated thirty-two years of marriage. Also surviving are two sons, James Filmore Dudley and wife Linda, of Whitmer; and Larry William Dudley, of Elkins; one brother, Shirley Clifford Callison and wife Terri, of VA; two sisters, Bobbi Muriel Fowler, of Morgantown; Wanda Lorene Alexander, of TX; six grandchildren, Debbie; Tammie; Jerry Lee; Bobby; Kevin “Buck”; and Fil; eighteen great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are one son, Jerry Lee Dudley; twin brothers, Asa Angus; and Lacy Loren Callison; and one daughter in law, Pam Dudley.

She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1938, was an employee of the former G. C. Murphy Company, was a former employee of the Kroger Company and owned and operator of her own ceramic business. She enjoyed flowers, was a noted bird watcher and enjoyed relaxing at her fish pond. She was a member of the Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Thursday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Friday, January 3, 2014 at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Jim Murphy will officiate and interment will follow at the Phillips Cemetery at Jimtown, WV.
