Virginia Mary Roy Hamrick, 68, of Elkins, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

She was born April 6, 1935, in Onego, the daughter of the late Starr M. and Elta Virginia Kerens Roy.

On Dec. 15, 1951, in Elkins, she was married to Raymond W. Hamrick, who survives in Elkins. They had been married for 51 years.

Also surviving are a son, Raymond R. “Randy” Hamrick and wife, Kim, of Belington; two daughters, Suzanne D. Cain and husband, Mark, of Elkins and Brenda L. Riggleman and husband, Larry, of Beverly; and one brother, Starr Junior Roy of Elkins. Five grandchildren, Jared Cain, Austin and Dalton Hamrick, and Sarah and Haleigh Riggleman, also survive.

Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Lindsey, Bruce, Dempsey and Luther Roy; and three sisters, Marie Roy, Erma Woods and Kathryn Roy.

Mrs. Hamrick was a homemaker and attended the Elkins Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, evening walks and spending quality time with her family.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Terry Burgess and Pastor Jack Howell officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Hamrick to the Elkins First Church of the Nazarene, 503 Lincoln Ave., Elkins, W.Va. 26241; Tygart Valley Baptist Church, Beverly, W.Va. 26253; or Landmark Baptist Church, 7 Forest Brook Drive, Elkins, W.Va. 26241. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Virginia Mary Hamrick.
