Virginia Ruth Cappadony, 96, a resident of the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center, passed away Friday morning, Jan. 8, 2021, at the Center.

She was born Feb. 29, 1924, at Norton, a daughter of the late Harley Newton Skidmore and the late Lena Blanche Ball Skidmore.

On June 9, 1945, at Biloxi, Mississippi, she was married to Arlan O. “Pete” Cappadony, who preceded her in death in 2010.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, including, Diane Jackson, Pat Hamrick, Harley “Robin”Spicer, Mark “Meatball” Spicer, Kathy Oldham, Susan Graham, Jeanne Dumire, Howard “Neal” Skidmore, David “Chongo” Skidmore, Adam “Joe” Skidmore, Edward Skidmore Jr., Robert Skidmore, Rebecca “Becky” Skidmore, Virginia “Dutch” Skidmore, Jeffrey Skidmore, James “Jim” Skidmore and Mary Helen Lafayette.

Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Richard Skidmore, Charles Skidmore and Ed Skidmore; and one sister, Lucille Spicer.

Mrs. Cappadony attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed as a secretary in Missouri for many years prior to her retirement.

The Cappadony’s then returned to Elkins where she attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church. A private service will be held for Mrs. Cappadony with interment in the Elkins Memorial Gardens.
