VONDA MARIE MITCHELL Vonda Marie Mitchell, 86, of Rt. #3, Philippi, died Thursday evening, April 5, in the Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, following an extended illness. She was born April 27, 1925, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Solomon Henry and Emma Jane (Braggs) Weaver. On October 6, 1945, she was married to Don Leo Mitchell, who survives at their home. Also surviving are two daughters, Vera Mae Keene and husband, Ronald, Philippi, Linda Lou Frey and husband, Ralph M. Jr., Moatsville; one son, Don Keith Mitchell and wife, Sarah Suzanne, Philippi; six grandchildren, Ronald Keith (Belinda) Keene, Michael Scott (Sharon) Mitchell, Tonia Mae (Mark) Bolyard, Eric Brian (Melissa) Mitchell, Chad Douglas (Shana) Frey and Brad Matthew (Elizabeth) Frey; eleven great grandchildren, Michael Keith Mitchell, Ashley Mitchell, Brittany Keene, Matt Keene, Leah Mitchell, Skylar Mitchell, Jodi Keene, Emily Frey, Aaron Bolyard, Clay Frey and Quade Frey; and a great great grandchild, Asher Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by eight sisters, Virginia Bennett, Thelma Weaver, Floy Felton, Opal Murphy, Ferrel Mitchell, Goldie Stemple, Nevada Robinson and Alice Jane Weaver and by five brothers, Oliver “Duke” Weaver, Monzel Weaver, Thamer Weaver, Troy Weaver and Hugh Weaver. Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with and cooking for her family. She particularly enjoyed family vacations. She formerly attended the Laurel Creek U.M. Church and most recently attended the Souls Harbor Tabernacle. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 9, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Bill Lanham will officiate and interment will follow in the Cross Roads Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Sunday and from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Monday. The Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
