Walter “Walt” Raymond Bartlett, 81, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Friday, July 24, 2015 at home surrounded by family.

Walt was born Monday, April 30, 1934 in Taylor County, a son of the late Omar Walter Bartlett and Myrtle Farance Bartlett.

On October 22, 1955 in Grafton, he married the former Doris Jean Conrad who survives in Elkins.

They celebrated fifty nine years of marriage.

Also left to cherish his memory is one daughter, Rae Ellen Harris of Utah, five siblings, Jerry Bartlett and wife Connie of VA, Ronnie Bartlett and wife Bobbie of NC, Mildred Self of OH, Sheila Rajnic and husband Paul of CA and Wanda Gear and husband Don of IN and two grandchildren, Will and Aidan Harris.

Preceding Walt in death besides his parents was one son, Timothy Bartlett and one brother, Dessell Bartlett.

Walt attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School.

He then continued on and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Davis and Elkins College. Walt proudly served in the U.S. Air Force.

He had been employed as a salesman for the Heinz Food Company and Arnold Bakery.

For over twenty years, Walt owned and operated Kent Village Liquors in Landover, MD. Walt loved his grandkids, the beach, fishing, hunting and horse racing.

He also enjoyed watching basketball, baseball and NASCAR.

He was a Methodist by faith and a member of Woodford Memorial Church. Walt’s request for cremation will be honored.

A celebration of Life will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Monday, July 27, 2015 from 1P-2P.

A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home at 2:00P. Rev. Jeremiah Jasper will officiate.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in Walt’s memory to Woodford Memorial Church 113 First Street, Elkins, WV 26241.
