Warren Miller Overfield, 79, a resident of Route 1, Volga, passed away Thursday afternoon, Oct. 10, 2002, in Broaddus Hospital Long Term Care.
He was born May 2, 1923, in Barbour County, a son of the late Guy and Tessie Wilmoth Overfield.
He was united in marriage on Dec. 2, 1950, to the former Naomi Lavoue Payne, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Vickie Kay and husband, Leonard Johnson, Route 1, Volga; two sisters, Mabel Mouser, Williamsburg, Va., and Lucille Jaber, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and one brother, Gerald Overfield, Philippi.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Overfield.
He was a retired coal miner having been employed by King Knob Coal Co. He was a member of the United Mine Workers, District 31, Local 1492. He was a United Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Speaker “Buck” True officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery
