Wilhelmina Hill Currence 1926-2002 Obituary

Wilhelmina Hill Currence of Buckhannon died at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Holbrook Nursing Home.

She was born to Everett M. Hill and Ethel Day Hill on Oct. 10, 1926, in Wilmington, Del.

She married Howard W. Currence of Hemlock on June 25, 1945, in Ozark, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, her husband and one son, Everett Austin Currence.

She is survived by sons Howard William II and wife, Carol, of Wilsontown, Arthur Lee and wife, Pat, of Buckhannon, and Thomas Richard of French Creek; six grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

She was a fulltime mother and housewife, serving the community of Arlington and Wilsontown as a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, the Upshur County Democratic Committee, and community groups. She raised four sons through the best and hardest of times to value education and service as she did.

A memorial service is planned for Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Arlington with interment at the church cemetery. Plans are incomplete at this time. The family requests no flowers. Friends and family may remember our mother by donations to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, the church or charity of your choice in her name.
