William C. “Bill” Umbright, age 76 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Thursday morning, October 29, 2020.

He was born April 30, 1944 at Helvetia, a son of the late Carl A. and Nellie G. Suesli Umbright.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Stewart Wilson Umbright, two sisters, Hope Rierson of Elkins and Lena Umbright of Beverly; one son, William “Bill” Umbright, Jr. and wife Christina of Morgantown and two daughters, Beverly Romero and husband Brian of Elkins and Beth Scott and husband Tommy of Oakland, MD.

Nine grandchildren, Tyler and Katherine Umbright, Josh and Macie Romero, Tommy, Sydney, Sunni, and Sadie Scott; three step sons, Tom Wilson and wife Beth, Craig Wilson and wife Shelby and Phillip Wilson and wife Stacy, all of Elkins also survive. Bill graduated from Pickens High School with the Class of 1962 and graduated from Glenville State College in 1966 and received his Master’s Degree from West Virginia University. His career began as a school teacher at Pickens, Petersburg and Randolph Macon Military Academy at Front Royal, Virginia. He then became a State Farm Insurance Agent in Elkins for forty five years retiring on December 31, 2018. He was a member of the Rock Cave Lodge No 81 AF & AM and the Osiris Shrine of Wheeling for over fifty years. He was a member of the Tygart Valley Shrine Club of Elkins, Pilgrim Commandery No. 21 and Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of WV, Beverly 23 and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkins. Friends may call from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Monday, November 2nd, he will be moved to the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman where a graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm. Rev. Brian Seders will officiate. Rock Cave Lodge No.81 AF & AM will conduct Masonic funeral rites at the gravesite. Masks and social distancing will be required for everyone attending the services for Mr. Umbright.
