William Charles Neamand, 88, a resident of the Good Samaritan Society of Barbour County, was called home to be with our Lord Monday morning, March 3, 2014 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg.

PopPop, as he was referred to by his grandchildren, had been in declining health for the past two weeks.

William was born Thursday, February 4, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late William H. Neamand and Margaret M. Burns Neamand.

On November 19, 1948, in Philadelphia, PA, he married the former Eleanor Ruth Press who preceded him in death, July 24, 2011.

Left to cherish William’s memory are two daughters, Lynda Perella of NJ and Deborah J. Gowers and husband, Cledith P. Jr., of Beverly, one son, William Neamand, Jr. and wife, Lane of SC, one brother, Dennis Neamand and wife Lois of PA, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife were two sons, Patrick W. and James M. Neamand, one brother, Donald Neamand and one sister, Joyce Hart.

William graduated from North East High in Philadelphia and attended Wydner College.

He was a US Navy Veteran and served in the Pacific Theater on the USS Seabu during WWII.

He worked as a self employed electrical contractor. William enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

William was Catholic by faith and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #4052 of Feasterville, PA.

Visitation will be held at Randolph Funeral Home on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 11:00AM until 1PM, the funeral hour.

Minister of Care and Eucharistic Minister to the Homebound,

Lori Smith of St. Brendan Catholic Church , will officiate and interment will follow at the Beverly Cemetery where members of HW Daniels Post #29, American Legion, the Tygart Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Navy Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
