William Donald Quick, 87, a well known service station operator and a resident of Valley Bend, departed this life early Thursday morning, Nov. 28, 2002, at Colonial Place in Elkins. He had been in declining health.

He was born Friday, July 23, 1915, near Valley Bend, a son of the late William Norval Quick and Nancy Blanch Vaughn Quick.

On June 1, 1941, at the Presbyterian Church Manse in Huttonsville, he was married to the former Daisy Marie Pritt, who survives.

Also surviving are one niece, Nancy Halstead, Charleston, and two great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Lee Quick and Charlie Emerson Quick, and three infant sisters.

Donald attended the one-room school in Crawford, was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 1934, was the owner and operator, along with his wife, of the Quick Service Station for 39 years from 1952 to 1991, was a school bus operator for 18 years from 1961 to 1979, was a farmer and a sharecropper.

He was a charter member of the Dailey-valley Bend Ruritan Club and was a member of the Mill Creek Presbyterian Church, where he had served as deacon, elder and trustee.

Friends will be received at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, Mr. Quick will be moved to the Mill Creek Presbyterian Church where final rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Robert J. Klein will officiate and interment will follow at the Mill Creek Cemetery in Mill Creek.
