William Dorsey Price 1910-2002 Obituary

William Dorsey Price, 92, a resident of Parsons, and more recently a resident of the Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas, departed this life Tuesday evening, Aug. 6, 2002, at the nursing home.

He was born April 18, 1910, at Clover Run, Tucker County, a son of the late William M. Price and Mary J. Kisner Price.

He was married to Frances Marie Dehaven Price, who preceded him in death during 1975.

Surviving are one son-in-law, John M. Wayson and one grandson, John “Marvin” Wayson II, both of Baltimore, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Alma Price Wayson; eight brothers, Fred, Carl, Harry, Chester, Edward, Arthur Price and two infants; and four sisters, Margaret Merryman, Ethel Wingfield, Dorother “Dot” Holler and Carrie Nestor.

He attended the one room school at Clover Run. He was an employee of the former Dorman Mills of Parsons, and retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was a member of the Tucker County Senior Center, the First Baptist Church of Parsons, of which he was a former member of the choir.

The family will receive friends at the Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Friday at 11 a.m. Pastor Allen D. Crosten will officiate and interment will follow in Parsons City Cemetery.
