William Jay Hedrick, 68, a resident of 206 N. Cherry St., Elkins, was pronounced dead on arrival Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 17, 2003, in the Davis Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. He had been in his usual health and his death was unexpected.

He was born Feb. 7, 1935, at Whitmer, the son of the late Albert and Nellie Varner Hedrick.

He had never married.

Surviving are one brother, Roy Hedrick of Elkins; one sister, Rosezetta Lloyd of Elkins; one niece, one nephew; two great-nieces and three great-nephews.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Andrew and Kelly Hedrick.

Mr. Hedrick attended the schools of Randolph County, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was last employed by Elkins Industries prior to his retirement.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Sunday, he will be moved to the Whitmer Church of God for visitation from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Walter Blough will officiate and interment will follow in the Laurel Hills Cemetery. Members of the H.W. Daniels American Legion Post 29 will present the American flag. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for William Jay Hedrick.
